DANIELA HERNANDEZ
fine and graphic artist
The combination of my creative and professional experiences sparked a passion
for graphic communication arts. I started working as a makeup artist shortly after
graduating from the Tom Savini School of Special Effects Makeup, a 2 year program
where I learned the art of prosthetics, mold making, and airbrushing. My understanding
of art theory along with my confidence as an artist evolved as I applied what I had
learned day to day. I realized that a major part of being a working artist is learning how
to translate your clients desires into a comprehensive final product. I fell in love with the
consultation process and problem solving required to execute a client's vision, while
adding my own creative touch and using my expertise to guide color and composition
into a cohesive design.
I was born and raised in Northern Virginia, a highly diverse area, where I
experienced and learned to appreciate a myriad of cultures. This helped deepen my
curiosity for my own Mexican roots, and allowed me to relate to others. Art is a universal
language as efficient as words that connects us all. It is the loving contact between
experience and expression.
My portfolio focuses on some of my best work in each of the mediums I have
experimented with. The most recent images have a heavier focus on design and
contain more graphic elements. Here there is a greater understanding of color, balance,
mood, and composition. My earlier works are more expressive and show my ability to
interpret shape, color, and depth in 2D and 3D forms.
